BOOK O PAGE 190 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, February 19th, 1973 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on Monday, February 19th, 1973. Commissioners Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Comm- issioner William H. Cooper was absent when the meeting was called to order. Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: The Chairman announced it was time to open the bids for refuse containers. The bids received were as follows: Roach-Russell, Inc . . . . . . . . . . . . . $7, 500. 00,(+ sales tax) Simpson Equipment Corporation . . . . . $7, 650. 00 (which includes sales tax) The Board took the bids under advisement. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the minutes for the ! meeting held on February 5th, 1973, be approved and recorded. Commissioner Hal L. Hancock seconded it and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. At the request of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, the Clerk was instructed to prepare a resolution memorializing the service of Chief Deputy Lloyd Smith. Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that the sum of $2, 891. 98 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Ambu- lance Fund to purchase a radio base station for installation at the Lee County Hospital. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion. Messrs. Hancock, Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved the adoption of the following resolution: RESOLVED that the Lee County Recreation Department is authorized to file an application for the establish- ment of a Youth Council which will have as its objectives and memberships, the following: (1) OBJECTIVES (A) To give youth an opportunity for leadership in their community, state and nation. (B) To inspire active and useful participation in civic affairs and continuance of their responsibilities of citizenship.
