BOOK O PAGE 190 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, February 19th, 1973 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' <br />Room on the second floor of the County Office Building at the corner of <br />Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 9:30 o'clock a. m., on <br />Monday, February 19th, 1973. Commissioners Hal L. Hancock, J. Eugene <br />Rogers, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker were present. Comm- <br />issioner William H. Cooper was absent when the meeting was called to order. <br />Chairman Gordon A. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The Chairman announced it was time to open the bids for refuse <br />containers. The bids received were as follows: <br />Roach-Russell, Inc . . . . . . . . . . . . . $7, 500. 00,(+ sales tax) <br />Simpson Equipment Corporation . . . . . $7, 650. 00 (which includes <br />sales tax) <br />The Board took the bids under advisement. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the minutes for the ! <br />meeting held on February 5th, 1973, be approved and recorded. Commissioner <br />Hal L. Hancock seconded it and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />At the request of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, the Clerk was <br />instructed to prepare a resolution memorializing the service of Chief Deputy <br />Lloyd Smith. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved that the sum of $2, 891. 98 <br />be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the Ambu- <br />lance Fund to purchase a radio base station for installation at the Lee County <br />Hospital. Commissioner Hancock seconded the motion. Messrs. Hancock, <br />Rogers, F. Wicker and G. Wicker all voted for it and no one voted against it. <br />Commissioner J. Eugene Rogers moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />RESOLVED that the Lee County Recreation <br />Department is authorized to file an application for the establish- <br />ment of a Youth Council which will have as its objectives and <br />memberships, the following: <br />(1) OBJECTIVES <br />(A) To give youth an opportunity for leadership in their <br />community, state and nation. <br />(B) To inspire active and useful participation in civic <br />affairs and continuance of their responsibilities of <br />citizenship. <br />
