LEE CIOUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />HIRING KERRY A. SCHMID <br />IN THE LEE COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE <br />WHEREAS, Under NCGS 153A-114 every board of county commissioners in North Carolina <br />must appoint an attorney to be its legal advisor; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners hired Neil Yarborough to be their <br />County Attorney on an interim basis until a permanent attorney could be hired and trained; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners and county staff undertook an <br />exhaustive process to find a permanent replacement for longtime County Attorney Mr. K. R. <br />Hoyle and his replacement Dale Talbert; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners must act using the authority vested in it to appoint a <br />County Attorney to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Talbert's untimely passing; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Kerry A. Schmid has shown great skills and thorough knowledge of local <br />government and the law during the application process and demonstrated great leadership and <br />management skills in her recent employment with Sarby County, Nebraska. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners of Lee <br />County, that Ms. Kerry A. Schmid is hereby hired in the Lee County Attorney's office and will <br />serve under County Attorney Neil Yarborough until her North Carolina Law License application <br />is approved by the North Carolina Bar, and then will be appointed to the position of County <br />Attorney for Lee County. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, said appointment is to be effective as of November 20, 2012. <br />Adopted this 19th day of November 2012. <br />ATTEST: <br />yz, ,a, - / <br />L a A.
