BRITT <br /> REGISTER OF DEEDS <br /> FILED Jan 06, 2023 <br /> AT 02:17:18 pm <br /> BOOK 00003 <br /> START PAGE 0880 <br /> END PAGE 0880 <br /> INSTRUMENT # 00083 <br /> EXCISE TAX (None) <br /> MT.IMF <br /> MW <br /> A TRIBUTE RESOLUTION HONORING NILLA "DICKE" SLOOP <br /> WHEREAS, Nilla "Dicke" Sloop has contributed greatly to the development of Lee County and the surrounding area <br /> through her service in the environmental health field and on various local boards and committees;and, <br /> WHEREAS, Dicke began her environmental health career in 1967 in the Mecklenburg County Health Department, where <br /> she worked for three years;then returned to the profession in 1979,working as a sanitarian and later the Program Coordinator <br /> for the District Health Department serving Chatham and Lee counties; she transferred to the Wake County Health <br /> Department in 1987,where she has worked in various capacities of increasing responsibility;and retired from Wake County <br /> as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in December of 2005;and, <br /> WHEREAS, she was the second female to enter the environmental health field in the state in 1992 and the first female <br /> Animal Control Director of Wake County in 1995;and, <br /> WHEREAS, Dicke was a member of the National Environmental Health Association, the North Carolina Public Health <br /> Association/Environmental Health Section, the Eastern District/North Carolina Public Health Association and the North <br /> Carolina Environmental Health Supervisors Association;and, <br /> WHEREAS, she served in leadership positions during her service on the North Carolina Environmental Health State of <br /> Practice Committee, and also served during the transition in profession from the "North Carolina Sanitarians" to the North <br /> Carolina Environmental Health Specialists;and, <br /> WHEREAS,Dicke not only served at the state level,but also locally on the Lee County Board of Health from 2021 through <br /> 2022,in which she was reappointed three times,as well as on the Lee County Partnership for Children Board since 2014 and <br /> served as Board Chair from 2016 through 2019 and stayed on as past chair for another year;and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners wishes to recognize and acknowledge the valuable service rendered <br /> by Dicke Sloop to the people of Lee County and expresses gratitude to her for her service;and, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that a tribute is hereby bestowed <br /> upon Dicke Sloop for her numerous years of devoted service and meaningful contributions as means of expressing <br /> appreciation and offering sincere condolences to the family. <br /> Dated this the 12'of September,2022.
