BRITT REGISTER OF DEEDS FILED Jul 20, 2021 AT 09:38:48 am BOOK 00003 START PAGE 0707 END PAGE 0707 INSTRUMENT # 05931 EXCISE TAX (None) RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION OF THE LEASE OF 1.15 ACRES OF LAND TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF SANFORD/LEE COUNTY FOR THE OPERATION OF A YOUTH PROGRAM IN LEE COUNTY WHEREAS, in 1997, the Lee County Board of Commissioners entered into a twenty-five-year lease with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County; and WHEREAS, the terms of the lease allowed for the Boys and Girls Clubs the opportunity to construct a 10,000 square foot building on the property to operate a program that would be open to the youth of Lee County at reasonable rates and fees; and WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County have requested an extension to their lease, which is set to expire in 2022; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, after receiving notice of the renewal, instructed staff to issue a published notice of its intent to renew the lease for ten years at its April 19, regular Board meeting and at least thirty days has passed since said notice was provided for in The Sanford Herald on April 22, 2021; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The Board of Commissioners desires for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County to continue providing youth programs to citizens of Lee County at reasonable rates. 2. Subject to North Carolina General Statute 160A-272, the Board of Commissioners published notice of its intent to extend the lease with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sanford/Lee County at least thirty days prior to the adoption of this resolution at the June 7, 2021 regular meeting of the Board. 3. Staff is authorized to prepare a lease and the Chair is authorized to execute the lease. Adopted this .7 0h day of Jan , ZOZ I .
