2012 - /d-` <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF A FIELD HOUSE ON THE GROUNDS OF THE <br />TRAMWAY ROAD PARK ATHLETIC FIELDS <br />WHEREAS, Lee County owns the real property currently being used and known as <br />Tramway Road Park located at 2301 Tramway Road, Sanford, North Carolina, and <br />WHEREAS, the County has constructed athletic fields on the property which are <br />used primarily for adult and youth baseball and softball activities presented or sponsored <br />by the Lee County Parks and Recreation Department, and. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the "Cooperative Agreement Between the <br />Lee County Board of Education and the County of Lee," dated November 5, 2001, as <br />amended on December 15, 2003, the Lee County Schools has priority use of the athletic <br />fields for practice and games during the boys' baseball and girls' softball seasons, and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern Lee High School Booster Club has secured private <br />funding in a sum sufficient to construct a one -story, 2000 -plus square feet field house at <br />the entrance to Tramway Road Park closest to Southern Lee High School between fields <br />one and four which would contain boys', girls' and coaches' locker rooms, boys' and girls' <br />showers, a laundry room, and an equipment storage area the design and location of <br />which are shown on Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2 which are incorporated by reference as if fully <br />set out herein. and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern Lee High School Booster Club, through the Southern <br />Lee High School boys baseball coach, has requested the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners to authorize the construction of said field house at the Club's expense <br />without any contribution of funds by the County for the construction or subsequent <br />operation and maintenance of the said field house, and <br />WHEREAS, the proposal to construct the said field house entirely with private <br />funds and without any monetary contribution from the County was presented to and <br />endorsed by the Lee County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on June 27, 2011, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has the corporate power and authority <br />pursuant to G.S. § 153A -169 to supervise the use of all county property and the power <br />and authority pursuant to G.S. § 153A -11 to acquire and hold any property and rights of <br />property, real and personal. <br />
