BRITT <br /> REGISTER OF DEEDS <br /> FILED Jun 22, 2021 <br /> AT 12:33:57 pm <br /> BOOK 00003 <br /> START PAGE 0702 <br /> END PAGE 0704 <br /> INSTRUMENT # 05088 <br /> EXCISE TAX (None) <br /> • <br /> per- <br /> * ft *, <br /> 4r!ii c \c <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF PERSONAL PROPERTY TO <br /> NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION BRICKCITY TIGERS <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Lee owns certain personal property related to tackle football that <br /> includes 97 helmets, 67 jerseys, 138 shoulder pads, and 216 pants, estimated to cost <br /> approximately$3,000.00; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department previously provided a tackle football program <br /> however, it has not been active since 2015 and the Department plans to officially retire the <br /> program and only offer flag football moving forward; and <br /> WHEREAS, Brickcity Tigers is a nonprofit organization that offers tackle football for youth in <br /> Lee County at reasonable rates and offers scholarships for participants unable to pay the fees; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lee County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has voted to donate Lee <br /> County's tackle football property to Brickcity Tigers for Brickcity Tigers to use in offering their <br /> programs to Lee County youth; and <br /> WHERAS, North Carolina General Statute 160A-280 allows for donations of personal property <br /> to nonprofit organizations that carry out a public purpose that the government could appropriate <br /> funds for, after the governing board has posted a public notice at least five days prior to the <br /> adoption of the resolution approving the donation. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> 1. The Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the donation of 97 helmets, 67 jerseys, <br /> 138 shoulder pads and 216 pants to Brickcity Tigers, a nonprofit organization offering <br /> tackle football programs at reasonable fees to Lee County youth, as it deems this property <br /> as surplus to its needs. <br /> 2. North Carolina General Statute 160A-280 authorizes said donations of property deemed <br /> surplus to the County needs after giving public notice at least five days before the <br /> approval of resolution authorizing the donation. <br /> 3. Lee County Government posted this resolution to the Lee County website on May 11, <br /> 2021, which is at least five days before approving this resolution. <br />
