LEE COUNTY <br /> Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION REMOVING A RESTRICTION <br /> ON VOLUNTARY SATELLITE ANNEXATIONS <br /> WHEREAS, residential, commercial, and industrial developers are interested in <br /> developing property near the Raleigh Executive Jetport and surrounding areas between <br /> the Sanford City Limits and the Moncure Megasite; and <br /> WHEREAS, said anticipated development will bring economic investment and <br /> jobs to the Lee County area; and <br /> WHEREAS, said developers may request voluntary annexation in order to access <br /> the sanitary sewer extended by the City of Sanford to the Raleigh Executive Jetport and <br /> the Moncure Megasite; and <br /> WHEREAS, current law restricts a city from fulfilling voluntary annexation <br /> requests if the parcel is more than three miles from the city corporate limits; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to facilitate economic development, the City of Sanford is <br /> seeking legislation to remove this restriction. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lee County Board of <br /> Commissioners hereby support the proposed legislation to remove the restriction for <br /> voluntary satellite annexations which required that the nearest point on the proposed <br /> satellite corporate limits be not more than three miles from the primary corporate limits <br /> of the annexing city. <br /> Adopted this 131-\'1 day of March, 2019. <br /> LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> BY '9"A74(.- ali4rvs-ri'' <br /> Amy Dalrymple, Chair <br /> ATTEST: ' I <br /> / <br /> ,_ 4.4a, _ .4.1 ill_A 1 <br /> lk <br /> Je fer G. 1, lerk <br />
