2008 - 7W <br />LEE COUNTY <br />• Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION <br />TO PROCLAIM OCTOBER 14, 2008 <br />AS <br />MISS NORTH CAROLINA DAY <br />IN SUPPORT OF ALS (LOU GEHRIG'S DISEASE) <br />WHEREAS, Miss North Carolina 2008, Amanda Lauren Watson, will be in Lee <br />County on Tuesday, October 14, 2008; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Watson is a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at <br />Chapel Hill, pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in education, and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Watson will visit some of the local schools to share her <br />message "Right Decisions, Right Now" which is a youth smoking prevention program; <br />and <br />• WHEREAS, Ms. Watson is an active advocate for the ALS Association, serving <br />people living with "Lou Gehrig's" disease and has been named a national spokesperson <br />for her work with the association; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Watson will also be in attendance at the Dennis Wicker Civic <br />Center on the evening of October 14, 2008, raising funds for a local Lee County ALS <br />patient and the ALS Association. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners proclaims October 14, 2008, as <br />"MISS NORTH CAROLINA DAY" <br />and extends to Ms. Amanda Lauren Watson deep appreciation for her dedication to the <br />fight against ALS. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREFOR, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of Lee <br />County to be affixed this the 6'h day of October 2008. <br />Robert H.
