BRITT <br />REGISTER OF DEEDS <br />FILED Dec 19, 2018 <br />AT 03:24:35 pm <br />BOOK 00003 <br />START PAGE <br />0518 <br />END PAGE <br />0519 <br />INSTRUMENT # <br />07228 <br />LEE COUNTY EXCISE TAX <br />(None) <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE PLAN SANLEE <br />FUTURE LAND USE PLAN AS PROPOSED <br />BY THE SANFORD/LEE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, A future land use plan is intended to serve as both a physical and policy plan to <br />guide each jurisdiction's development for over twenty to thirty years; and <br />WHEREAS, Lee County's last land use plan was adopted in 1999 and many changes have <br />occurred to the environment since that time; and <br />WHEREAS, the primary function of a land use plan is to provide a long-range comprehensive <br />planning tool that will provide guidance to developers, citizens, staff and decision makers, while <br />taking into account future growth; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2016, an update to the plan began with interviews of stakeholders, public <br />meetings, and a public survey; and <br />WHEREAS, the Joint Planning Commission then served as the steering committee, giving <br />periodic guidance to planning staff and the consultant throughout the development of the plan; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, in the summer of 2018 the Planning Department held two public drop in sessions <br />and the final edits to the plan were made; and <br />WHEREAS, the Joint Planning Commission has approved the P1anSanLee future land use plan <br />and; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 2, 2018 the City of Sanford adopted the P1anSanLee future land use <br />plan and on October 22, 2018 the Town of Broadway adopted the P1anSanLee future land use <br />plan; and <br />WHERAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners adopts the P1anSanLee future land use <br />plan, but desires to ensure a review of the plan is conducted each year in order to recommend <br />any changes it determines should be made based on the changing environment of the county; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners will invite staff from the Planning <br />Department to its retreat each January to have a discussion and make any necessary suggested <br />revisions to the PlanSanLee future land use plan. <br />
