2005 - Of <br />r� <br />MEDICAID RESOLUTION <br />SUPPORTING STATE ASSUMPTION OF COUNTY SHARE <br />OF MEDICAID <br />WHEREAS, Lee County pays $2,750,000 or 5.5 % of its expenditures for <br />services to Medicaid eligible citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the counties share of Medicaid reimbursements has increased over <br />67% in the last five years and now totals approximately $440 million; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina is one of only two states in the nation that require <br />counties to pay a share of all Medicaid services costs; and <br />WHEREAS, 7.9% of Lee County's tax rate is dedicated to Medicaid <br />expenditures; and <br />WHEREAS, if $2,750,000 was budgeted for FY 2004 -05, the per capita cost of <br />Medicaid would be $52.23, and <br />WHEREAS, the local percentage growth in Medicaid cost over the past twelve <br />years is 365 %; and <br />WHEREAS, 15% of Lee County's population is on Medicaid. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lee County Board of <br />Commissioners urges the North Carolina General Assembly to provide immediate <br />Medicaid relief to Lee County. <br />FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that copies of this resolution is transmitted to <br />the members of the General Assembly representing Lee Count <br />Adopted this the 26 "' day of January 2005. <br />ATTEST: <br />2 aa A M.
