2005 - <br />• PROCLA IM AT10N <br />SPRING LITTER SWEEP <br />2005 <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually organizes <br />a Spring roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautilul roads in North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, the .Spring 2005 LITTER SIVEEP roadside cleanup will take place <br />April 16-30, 2005, and encourages local government leaders, civic and professional <br />groups, churches, schools, families, businesses and individual citizens to participate by <br />organizing cleanups in their communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the LITTER SWEEP cleanup will educate and encourage the <br />individuals in Lee County regarding the importance of a clean environment and the <br />quality of life in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, a clean environment are sources of great pride for all Lee County <br />residents, attracting tourists and aiding in recruiting new industries; and <br />WHEREAS, the cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner roadsides, <br />emphasize the importance of not littering, and encourage recycling of solid wastes; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2005 Spring cleanup will celebrate the 17' anniversary of the <br />North Carolina Adopt- A- l-Iighway program and the thousands of volunteers who <br />contribute their time and labor year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We the Lee County Board of Commissioners do hereby <br />proclaim April 16 -30, 2005, as "LITTER SWEEP" time in Lee County and urge all <br />citizens to participate in making our roadsides clean and recycling solid wastes. <br />Adopted this the 21 s ' day of March 2005. <br />ATTEST: Herbert A.
