2005 - <br />0 LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />121MOXy WA 1� �l ISIRKOW <br />LITTER SWEEP <br />2005 <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation annually organizes a Fall state <br />roadside litter cleanup to ensure clean and beautiful roads in North Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fall 2005 LITTER SWEEP roadside cleanup September 17 — October 1, 2005, <br />and encourages local government leaders, civic and professional groups, churches, schools, <br />families, businesses and individual citizens to participate by organizing cleanups in their <br />communities, and <br />WHEREAS, the LITTER SWEEP cleanup will educate and encourage the individuals in Lee <br />County regarding the importance of a clean environment and the quality of life in Lee County, <br />and <br />• WHEREAS, a clean environment are sources of great pride for all Lee County residents, <br />attracting tourists and aiding in recruiting new industries, and <br />WHEREAS, the cleanup will raise awareness of the need for cleaner roadsides, emphasize the <br />importance of not littering, and encourage recycling of solid wastes; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2005 Fall cleanup will celebrate the 17`" anniversary of the North Carolina <br />Adopt -A- Highway program and the thousands of volunteers who contribute their time and labor <br />year round to keep our roadsides clean. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, We the Lee County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br />September 17 — October 1, 2005, as "LITTER SWEEP" time in Lee County, and urge all <br />citizens to participate in making our roadsides clean and encourage the recycling of solid <br />wastes. <br />Adopted this the 1 g day of September 20fd5. <br />Herbert A.
