LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PROPERTY LOCATED AT 0 <br />Vacant Ashe Street PIN 9642-76-8286-00 <br />WHEREAS, the County of Lee and the City of Sanford own certain property located at 0 <br />Vacant Ashe Street, Pinehurst Neighborhood, PIN 9642-76-8286-00 Sanford, Lee County, NC as <br />shown on a deed recorded in Deed Book 1470 Page 685 in the Office of the Register of Deeds <br />for Lee County, to which the record thereof, reference is hereby made for more complete <br />description; and, <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statutes §§ 153A-176 and 160A-269 permit the <br />county to sell property by upset bid, after receipt of an offer to purchase the property; and, <br />WHEREAS, The City of Sanford deeded its interest in the property to the County in <br />order to dispose of the property on behalf of the City of Sanford and to recoup some of the costs <br />incurred in collecting taxes, as shown on a deed recorded in Deed Book 1476 Page 782, in the <br />Office of the Register of Deeds for Lee County; and, <br />WHEREAS, the County received an offer the purchase the property from Duran Johnson <br />on October 4, 2017 for $500.00; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson paid to the County the required 5 percent (5%) deposit on its <br />offer and advertising costs; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners accepted the offer of $500.00 from <br />Mr. Johnson and declared the property as surplus at the Board's regular meeting on October 16, <br />2017; and, <br />WHEREAS, the offer was advertised in The Sanford Herald on November 8, 2017; and, <br />WHEREAS, no upset bids were received during the 10 -day upset bid period and the offer <br />from Mr. Johnson of $500.00 is the final and highest bid received. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners <br />as follows: <br />The Lee County Board of Commissioners hereby accepts the offer of $500.00 from <br />Mr. Johnson. <br />2. The terms of the final sale are as follows: Buyer must pay with cash, cashier's check <br />or certified check at the time of the closing. <br />
