0 0 .19] <br />°OU~ 1~ P,'SE 01 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />IN ITS CAPACITY AS THE GOVERNING BODY <br />OF <br />LEE COUNTY WATER AND SEWER DISTRICT NO <br /> <br />JULY 17, 1997 <br /> <br />A special meeting of the governing body of the Lee County Water and Sewer <br />District No. I was held in the Gordon A. Wicker Community Conference Room, 106 <br />Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina on said date. Commissioners present were <br />J Jimmie M. Cox; F. Hubert Garner; T. Ervin Mansfield; Bertha L. Matthews; J. Douglas <br />Moretz, Nathan E. Paschal and Robert T. Reives. <br />Chairman Garner presided and Gaynell M. Beal, Clerk to the Board of <br />Commissioners, acted as Secretary of the meeting. <br />County Attorney K. R. Hoyle delivered the invocation. <br />Commissioner Moretz moved approval of the consent agenda, which consisted of <br />the following item: <br />• minutes of the June 16, 1997 meeting <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Garner, Mansfield, Matthews, Moretz, Paschal and Reives <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Public Works Director Kenny Cole and Hobbs, Upchurch & Associates <br />representative Tim Carpenter went over bids and alternates from the June 5, 1997 bid <br />opening for Phase I of the Lee County Water Project. Discussion took place concerning <br />eight roads, consisting of seven miles, that will need to be deleted from the project due to <br />less than 30% participation on those roads. These roads will need to be eliminated to <br />bring the project within budget. Various options were discussed concerning the project. <br />After some discussion Commissioner Moretz moved to adopt option two <br />presented to delete 2.69 miles of pipe from contract II and 4.23 miles from contract 1II, <br />
