L- -),D►k+- 3 S <br />BK:00026 PG:1069 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION TO AMEND STATE STATUTES RESTRICTING <br />CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT HOLDERS IN THE <br />NORTH CAROLINA LEGISLATIVE BUILDING <br />AND THE <br />LEGISLATIVE OFFICE BUILDING <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §14-269.3, carrying weapons into assemblies and <br />establishments where alcoholic beverages are sold and consumed exempts an individual possessing a <br />valid concealed handgun permit whom may carry such handgun; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §14-277.2 weapons at parades, etc., prohibited exempts <br />an individual possessing a valid concealed handgun permit whom may carry such handgun; and, <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §14-415.11 prescribes the rules under which an individual <br />possessing a valid concealed handgun permit may carry such handgun; and, <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §14-415.12 defines the criteria to qualify for the issuance <br />of a permit; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Texas State Legislature in 1995 passed their Concealed Handgun Permit law as well <br />allowing law-abiding Concealed Handgun Permit holders to carry in the Texas Legislature Building; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kansas State Legislature in July 2014 allowed Concealed Handgun Permit holders to <br />carry concealed in the Kansas Legislative Building; and <br />WHEREAS, Kansas State Legislators were allowed to carry concealed in the Legislative Building prior <br />to July 2014; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute §120-32.1(d) (1) a -f designates the grounds, buildings, and <br />parking facilities attributed to the Legislative buildings and grounds; and, <br />WHEREAS, Concealed Handgun Permit holders are not allowed to cant' concealed handguns on the <br />designated grounds, buildings, and parking facilities attributed to the General Assembly of the State of <br />North Carolina. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lee County Board of Commissioners that the Governor <br />and General Assembly of the State of North Carolina pass legislation lifting the restrictions on law- <br />abiding Concealed Handgun Permit holders from the Legislative Building, Legislative Office Building, <br />grounds, gardens, mall, and parking facilities outlined in North Carolina General Statute §120- <br />32.1(d)(1) a -f. <br />
