�01U- a? <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEE COUNTY REGISTER OF DEEDS TO SET <br />HOURS FOR RECORDING DOCUMENTS FROM 8:OOAM UNTIL 4:30PM MONDAY <br />THROUGH FRIDAY EXCEPT LEGAL HOLIDAYS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH <br />NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL STATUTE § 161-8 <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Register of Deeds Office implemented an office policy of <br />not issuing marriage licenses after 4:30 p.m. in 2004; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Register of Deeds would like to continue this practice and <br />to implement the same policy for the recording department; and <br />WHEREAS, this policy will allow the recording division to be able to scan, number and <br />index the recorded documents before the close of business; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Register of Deeds does not close for lunch and shutting <br />down the recording systems at 4:30 p.m. still provides eight and a half hours of operation for <br />those needing to record documents; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Register of Deeds will remain open until 5:00 p.m. <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEE COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS THAT: <br />The Lee County Register of Deeds Office shall institute a policy of not recording <br />documents after 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning January 1, 2017.
