M. with the following members of the Board present for <br /> dispatch of'business: <br /> Commissioners Percy Measamer, J. M. Cheshire, Clyde J. Atkins, Sion <br /> H. Kelly and Evander C. Winstead. <br /> Chairman Percy Measamer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted; <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. John Smith, Pastor of <br /> the Jonesboro Baptist Church. <br /> Minutes of the regular meeting of March 4, 1957, and minutes of the <br /> special meeting of March 11, 1957, were read and approved. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Cheshire, Seconded by Commissioner Atkins, <br /> a road petition submitted by D. M. Cole and W. E. Wicker was unanimously <br /> adopted. This petition provides for the improving ant black topping of a road <br /> in pocket township running from U. S. No. 1 at the M. L. Brown residence <br /> West to the old Plank Road a distance of 4 miles. <br /> A road petition submitted by J. W. Key, was on motion of Commissioner <br /> Kelly, seconded by Commissioner Winstead, a unanimously approved. This <br /> petition provides for the grading and the addition tote, system of a road in <br /> deep river township running from the new MansfielAt the J. P. and T. C. <br /> Dalrymple farm to the J. W. Key residence, a distance of approximately 0. 4 <br /> miles. <br /> Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, made monthly <br /> report of the activities of her office. <br /> Dr. David Garvin, District Health Officer, made monthly report of the <br /> activities of the Lee County Health Department. <br /> Sheriff D. F. Holder presented monthly report of the activities of the <br /> Sheriff's Department. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented the monthly <br /> report of the activities of the Veterans Service office. <br /> Dr.- J. M. McKinnon, County Veterinarian, appeared before the Board <br /> to discuss a program of rabies vaccination in Lee County. He was instructed <br /> by the Board to advertise the dates and places of the vaccination program for <br /> all dogs in Lee County. <br /> A road petition submitted by A. C. Cameron was, on motion of <br /> Commissioner Winstead, seconded by Commissioner Cheshire, unanimously <br /> approved. This petition provides for the grading and improving of a road <br /> in West Sanford Township leading from Crestview Street to kcac Ellerbee St. <br /> and Bush Street, the same being known as Ellerbee Street and Bush St. road. <br /> Commissioner Winstead introduced the following resolution and moved its <br /> adoption, to-wit: <br /> WHEREAS, it was brought to the attention of the Board of Commissioners <br /> of Lee County at its regular monthly meeting held on the first day of April, <br /> 1957, that a road running from the Swann Station-Lemon Springs road to the <br />
