I3 b Au-I.-,. <br /> /IL-1vLa -c. ,ate. - c/42 t <br /> 'OLG40,to GiatH, <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD <br /> OF <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> July 1, 1957 <br /> The Board of County Commissioners met in regular monthly session <br /> in the Commissioner's Room at the Courthouse on Monday, July 1, <br /> 1957 at 10.00 o'clock A. M. , with the following members of the Board <br /> present for dispatch of business; <br /> Commissioners Sion K. Kelly, Evander C. Winstead, Clyde J. Atkins, <br /> and J. M. Cheshire. <br /> Commissioner Sion H. Kelly, Vice Chairman of the Boarjpresided in <br /> the absence of fat Chairman Percy Measamer and the following business <br /> was transacted: <br /> Mr. Johnson of the Jones Chapel Church appeared before the Board to <br /> request the Board to petition the State Highway and Public Works Commission <br /> _ to improve the road leading to the Jones Chapel Church. On motion of <br /> Commissioner Winstead, seconded by Commissioner Atkins, the Clerk was <br /> instructed to contact Mr. Stewart and ask that this road be immediately <br /> improved. <br /> Mrs. Louise Dowdy presented the monthly report of the activities of the <br /> Lee County Health Department. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Office presented monthly report of <br /> the activities of his office. <br /> Reports on the activities of the County Agent and the County Home <br /> Demonstration Agent were received by the Board, Mr. K. S. Harmon, <br /> County Agenjand Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, <br /> being away on their vacations. <br /> The Chairman then read letter received from Mr. Forest Lockey, Highway <br /> Commissioner and the Clerk was instructed to make this letter a part of <br /> the minutes of the meeting, said xa letter being as follows; <br /> June 25, 1957 <br /> Mr. Percy Measamer, Chairman <br /> Lee County Board of Commissioners <br /> Sanford, North Carolina <br /> Dear M4. Measamer: <br /> As my term of Highway Commissioner draws to a close, I want to <br /> drop you this note and sincerely thank you and each member of your Board . <br /> for being so nice to me during the past four years. It has been a real <br /> pleasure to work with you folks and I shall long remember our very <br /> pleasant association. Your cooperation and understanding at all times has <br /> been of great help to me. <br /> May I ask you to please read this letter at your next meeting and personally <br />
