® ® � , <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD <br /> OF <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> September 3, 1957 <br /> The Board of County Commissioners of Lee County met in regular <br /> monthly session in the Commissioner's Room at the Courthouse on Tuesday, <br /> September 3, 1957 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. , Monday, September 2, 1957 <br /> being a legal holiday. The following members of the Board were present <br /> for dispatch of business: <br /> Commissioners J. M. Cheshire, Evander C. Winstead, Percy <br /> Measamer, Clyde J. Atkins, and Sion H. Kelly. <br /> Chairman Percy Measamer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> B. E. Kelly, member of the Board of Aldermen S the City of Sanford, <br /> came before the Board to discuss the question of the County contributing to the <br /> purchase of a truck to be used by the Fire Department of the City of Sanford. <br /> The question was thoroughly discussed, but no formal action was taken. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the activities of <br /> his office. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report <br /> of the activities of his office. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which- motion was seconded <br /> by Commissioner Atkins, a road petition presented by Dorothy G. Palmer, <br /> requesting that a road located in West Sanford Township running from Rock <br /> Street to the end of Boykin Avenue, known as Boykin Avenue, be added to <br /> the State Highway and Public Works Commission System, was unanimously <br /> adopted and the Clerk was instructed to forward the petition to Mr. T. G. <br /> Poindexter, Division Engineer at his office in Aberdeen. <br /> Mr. E. P. Clark, Custodian of the Courthouse, reported on the <br /> condition of all Lee County Buildings. <br /> Mr. Clark also discussed the question of the purchase of janitorial <br /> supplies, and on motion duly made and seconded, the Clerk to the Board was <br /> instructed to notify all County Officers that all janitorial supplies will hereafter <br /> be purchased by Mr. Clark at the courthouse. All interested persons were <br /> also to be advised that they should notify Mr. Clark of any supplies needed by <br /> them. <br /> Mrs Louise Dowdy, representing the County Health Department, <br /> presented monthly report of the activities of that Department. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was secrnded by <br /> Commissioner Atkins, a road petition submitted by W. B. Garner requesting <br /> that a road in Pocket Township running from the old Gulf-Plank Road, at a. <br /> point near John Spivey's Store, to the-Bradley Garner farm, known as the <br /> Garner Road, be improved and graveled, was unanimously approved and the <br /> Clerk was instructed to forward the same to Mr. T. G. Poindexter, Division <br /> Engineer, at his office in Aberdeen. , <br />
