450 <br /> 01111043)4 <br /> MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF THE <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> November 4, 1957 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular <br /> monthly session in the Commissioners' Room at the Courthouse on <br /> Monday, November 4, 1957, at 10:00 o' clock, A. M. , with the follow- <br /> ing members of the Board present for dispatch of business: <br /> Commissioners Evander C. Winstead, Clyde J. Atkins, Percy <br /> Measamer, Sion H. Kelly and J. M. Cheshire. <br /> Chairman Percy Measamer presided and the following business <br /> was transacted: <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. C. H. Dotson, <br /> Pastor of. Wesleyan Methodist Church of Sanford. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly <br /> report of the activities of the Veterans Service Office. <br /> E. P. Clark, Custodian of the County Courthouse, reported <br /> on the condition of all buildings owned by the County. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the <br /> activities of the Sheriff' s Office. <br /> K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, reported on the activities <br /> of his office for the month of October, 1957. Mr. Harmon then <br /> presented Julian E. Mann, State Director of Federal Crop Insurance <br /> Corporation, United StatesDepartment of Agriculture, and Mr. C. <br /> Kenyon Withrow, District Supervisor of Federal Crop Insurance <br /> Corporation, United States Department of Agriculture. Mr. Harmon <br /> pointed out that these officials were in Lee County for the purpose <br /> of setting up a Federal Crop Insurance Progra n Lee County. The <br /> Board ten assigne the.ee- o ."-^4.o, office in the Courthouse <br /> AnnexZrA04, <br /> Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, presented <br /> monthly report of her activities for the month of October, 1957. <br /> Dr. Jack C. Robertson, County Health Officer, presented <br /> monthly report of the Health Department and the report of the County <br /> Sanitarian. <br /> J. B. Cameron, Chairman of the Lee County Board of Education, <br /> discussed with the board plans for a new..building to house the County <br /> Board of Education and the County Superintendent of Schools. He pre- <br /> sented floor plans for inspection and pointed out to the Board that <br /> the building would cost approximately $25,000. After full discussion <br /> of the plans, Commissioner Cheshire moved that the Lee County Board of <br /> Education be authorized to proceed with the acquisition of the land <br /> and the construction of the building in accordance with the plans pre- <br /> sented. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Kelly and the same <br /> was unanimously adopted. <br /> Chairman Measamer then presented the following letter: <br />
