r, <br /> ilitsr <br /> MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br /> THE <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> June 2, 1958 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly ' <br /> session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, June 2, <br /> 1958 at 10:00 A. M. , with the following members of the Board present for <br /> dispatch of business: <br /> Commissioners Percy Measamer, Sion H. Kelly, Evander C. Winstead, <br /> Clyde J. Atkins and J. M. Cheshire. <br /> Chairman Percy Measamer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. C. H. .1D.otson, Pastor <br /> of The Weslyon Methodist Church. <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of May 5, 1958, were read and approved. <br /> tF W. R. Williams and . • <br /> rr <br /> J. Allen Harrington, Tax Attorney, appeared before the Board and Mr. <br /> Williams. presented •the following letter addressed to the Board, to-wit: <br /> "Board of County Commissioners <br /> Lee County <br /> Sanford, North Carolina <br /> Dear Sirs: <br /> This letter is in reference to Lots Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, of Block <br /> "MI' and Lots Nos. 9 and 10 of an extension of Block "M", and Lot No. 1 in <br /> Block "Z" and Lots Nos. 5 and 6 of Block "T", all as shown on a map of the <br /> Weatherspoon Addition to the Town of Sanford, which lots are adjacent to a <br /> tract of 70 acres owned by Father George Mills, but which were by deed <br /> from K. R. Hoyle, Commissioner, conveyed to Lee County and the Town of <br /> Sanford by deed registered in the Office of the Register of Deeds of Lee County <br /> in Book 36, Page 189 and dated March 6, 1944. The tax due on this property <br /> for which it was sold, was paid March 3, 1944 as is disclosed by the attached <br /> statement from the Tax Collector's office of Lee County and also by photostatic <br /> copy of the check for such payment which is also attached. <br /> At the time of the payment, I was supposed to have a deed for these lots <br /> and until recently was of the opinion that such deed was in my possession or on <br /> record. It does not appear of record and I have not been able to locate the <br /> lost deed. <br /> Mr. Allen Harrington, Tax Attorney for Lee County, has this property <br /> advertised for sale on Firday, the 23rd day of May, 1958 at 12:00 o'clock <br /> Noon for Lee County and the Town of Sanford. This property was known as the <br /> L. M. Spivey land and the description in the advertisement referred to certain <br /> lots as shown on a map of the Weatherspoon Addition to the Town of Sanford, <br />
