tips-€v-1 <br /> 4 mato( Mr) <br /> d <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETINGg.A,� c2! <br /> OF <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> January 5, 1959 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly <br /> session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, January <br /> 5, 1959 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board <br /> present for dispatch of business: <br /> Commissioners Sion H. Kelly, Evander C. Winstead, Percy Measamer, <br /> Ralph Groce and Clyde J. Atkins. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. Max Vestal, Pastor <br /> of Shallow Well Christian Church. <br /> The minutes of the regular monthly meeting of December 1, 1959 were <br /> read and approved. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report-of the activities of his <br /> office. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report of <br /> the activities of his office. <br /> The Chairman then called the attention of the Board to the death of <br /> J. B. O'Brien, Register of Deeds, on January 1, 1959, and expressed the <br /> regret of the Board upon the passing of Mr. O'Brien. <br /> There then followed a discussion of the duties and responsibilities of <br /> the Office of the Register of Deeds. Commissioner Winstead then moved <br /> that the salary of the Register of Deeds be set at $4, 200. 00 and that the <br /> salary of an Assistant Register of Deeds or Deputy Register of Deeds be <br /> set at $200. 00 per month, said salary to be effective as of January 1, 1959; <br /> Mr. Winstead then moved that all receipts of the Office of the Register of <br /> Deeds go into the general fund of the county. eagmotioipfas seconded <br /> by Commissioner Atkins and the sameigEti adopted by the unanimous vote <br /> of the Board. <br /> Commissioner Measamer nominated Mrs. Nette B. Keith to fill the <br /> unexpired term of J. B. O'Brien, deceased, as Register of Deeds of Lee <br /> County. The Chairman then announced that the floor was open for further <br /> nominations for the position of Register of Deeds, but no further names <br /> were presented. <br /> ap� pointed <br /> Commissioner Kelly moved that Mrs. Nette B. Keith befU ,pointed <br /> of Deeds of Lee County to fillthe unexpired term of J. B. O'Brien, deceased, <br /> by acclamation. This motion was seconded by Commissioner Measamer <br /> and the same was adopted by the unanimous vote of the Board.. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Measamer, bond of Mrs. Nette B. Keith was approved in the <br /> amount of $5, 000. 00, said bond having been written by the National Security <br /> Cor poration. <br />
