I;Ai) c-id394, 1 MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING of BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS February 5, 1959 The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, February 5, 1959 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board present for dispatch of business. Commissioners Clyde J. Atkins, Ralph Groce, Percy Measamer, Sion H. Kelly and Evander C. Winstead. Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Jesse F. Minns, Pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church. The minutes of the Regular monthly meeting of January 5, 1959 were read and approved. Rev. Max Vestal, Pastor of the Shallow Well Christian Church presented resolution which was ordered incorporated within the minutes as follows, to-wit: " TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: • We, the trustees of Shallow Well Congregational Christian Church upon authority conferred upon us by the church, meeting in a special called meeting, February 1, 1959, respectfully oppose the building of an airfield in the Shallow Well Community. Although we do not oppose an airfield for Sanford -- in fact, we believe that one is needed-- we do request that a site be chosen that is not residential, that is not in ' close proximity to a church or school, and that has adequate room for expansion with the growth of Sanford and Lee County. Vestal and no formal action was taken by the Board. Mrs. Pearl Reid Poe came before the Board to ask that the County release to her all its interest in Lots 6 and 7 in Block 200 of the Monroe Addition as she has paid all taxes on this property.- On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce, it was . unanimously resolved by the Board that the County release and quit claim unto Mrs. Pearl Reid Poe all right, title and interest which the county might have in and to Lots 6 and 7 in Block 200 of the Monore Addition in the City of Sanford, and the attorney was instructed to draw a quit claim deed. On motion of Commissioner Measamer, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Atkins, a road petition requesting the stabilization and improvement of a road in West Sanford Township, running from U. S. No. 1 at the Rob Smith Store, northwest to Feaster Jennings home, a distance of two miles was unanimously approved.
