• <br /> WI <br /> Ind <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> April 6, 1959 <br /> The Board of Commissioners •of Lee.County met in regular monthly <br /> session in the Commissioners Room at .the Courthouse on Monday, April 6, <br /> 1959 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board <br /> present for dispatch of business: • <br /> Commissioners Evander Winstead, Ralph Grote, Sion H. Kelly, Clyde <br /> Atkins and Percy Measamer. <br /> The meeting -was opened with prayer by Rev. John Smith, Pastor of <br /> Jonesboro Baptist Church. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was transacted: <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of March 2, 1959 and the minutes of <br /> the adjourned meeting of March 16, 1959 were read and approved. <br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the activities of his <br /> office. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report of <br /> '(he activities of his office. <br /> CtiBitital <br /> A. H. McIver, zt. of Board of Trustees of Lee County Hospital, <br /> and Mr. Paul Cragan, Administrator of Lee County Hospital, appeared before <br /> the Board to request that the Board lease the Lee County Hospital to a non- <br /> profit private corporation. This matter was discussed in detail, but no <br /> formal action was taken. <br /> Miss Monica Brown, County Home Demonstration Agent, presented the <br /> monthly report of her activities. <br /> K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, presented monthly report of the <br /> activities of his office. <br /> E. P. Clark, Caretaker of the Courthouse, reported on the condition of <br /> all buildings owned by the County. <br /> At the request of Commissioner Winstead, the following letter was read <br /> by the Chairman and included, at the request of Commissioner Winstead, in <br /> "the minutes of the meeting, to-wit: • <br /> "Honorable J. Shelton Wicker <br /> Member, House of Representatives <br /> General Assembly of North Carolina <br /> Raleigh, North Carolina <br /> Dear Shelton: , <br /> • <br /> By the newspaper I am informed that a result of a called meeting of <br /> the 'Lee 'County Board of Commissioners to discuss our jail problem was a <br /> resolution requesting legislation to divide the county into districts for the <br /> election 'of county commissioners. This was not.the unanimous act of said <br /> board. <br />
