• 4 • • <br /> SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> April 8, 1959 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in special session <br /> in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Wednesday.night, <br /> April 8, 1959 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. pursuant to the motion of adjournment <br /> at the April 6, 1959 regular meeting of said Board. The following members <br /> of the Board-were present for dispatch of business: <br /> Commissioners Evander Winstead, Ralph Groce, Sion H. Kelly, Clyde <br /> Atkins and Percy Measamer. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> • <br /> Malcolm A. McLeod, Supt. of Sanford City Schools and J. M. Auman <br /> member of the City Board of Education, presented the budget request for <br /> the Sanford City Schools for the fiscal year 1959-60. Said budget request <br /> was discussed item by item and in detail. No formal action was taken. <br /> J. J. Lentz, Supt. of Lee County Schools, and the members of the Lee <br /> County Board of Education presented the budget request for the Lee County <br /> School system for the fiscal year 1959-60. Said budget request was <br /> discussed item by item and in detail. No formal action was taken. <br /> The Board then again took under consideration the request of the Board <br /> of Trustees of Lee County Hospital to lease said hospital to a private non- <br /> profit corporation, which request was presented by A. H. McIver, Chairman <br /> of said board. Thereafter Commissioner Measamer moved that the County <br /> continue to operate the hospital under the present plan for another year <br /> and to consider the .proposal or request of the Board of Trustees of the <br /> hospital a year from this date and in the mean time that the Board of County <br /> Commissioners give the proposal further study and publicity. This motion <br /> was seconded by Commissioner Groce and the vote on the same was as <br /> follows: <br /> • Measamer - aye <br /> Winstead - aye <br /> Atkins - aye <br /> Groce - aye <br /> Kelly - <br /> The Chairman declared the motion unanimously adopted and instructed <br /> the attorney to advise Mr. A. H. McIver, Chairman of Lee County Hospital <br /> Board of Trustees of said action. <br /> The Attorney then read the following resolution, to-wit: <br /> RESOLUTION ENLISTING IN NORTH CAROLINA LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL <br /> EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM. <br /> WHEREAS, the 1945 General Assembly amended the North Carolina <br /> Local Governmental,Employees' Retirement System so as to make the <br /> benefits of said System available to all counties, cities, and towns, and <br /> WHEREAS, the. governing body of this Unit realizes the necessity of <br /> providing its employees with the security and protection provided by a sound <br /> retirement plan, and <br />
