ad • • • MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS • 'May 4, 1959 • The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, May 4, 1959, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board present for dispatch of business: Commissioners Evander Winstead, Ralph Groce, Sion H. Kelly, Clyde Atkins and Percy Measamer. • The minutes of the regular meeting of April 6, 1959 and minutes of the Special Meetings of April 8, 1959 and April 15, 1959 were read and approved. Mrs. Laura B. Rosser, Supt. of Public Welfare, appeared before the Board and gave report of the activities of the Welfare Department for the • month of April, 1959. W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report of the activities of his office. Miss Monica Brown, County.Home Demonstration- Agent, presented the monthly report of her activities. • Paul Cragan, Administrator of Lee County Hospital appeared before the Board and reported on the financial status of the Hospital. K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, appeared before the Board and presented report and budget request for Farm Extension Service for fiscal year 1959- 1960. D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, presented monthly report of the activities of his office. Upon motion of Commissioner Measamer, which.motion was seconded by Commissioner Groce, it was unanimously resolved that William F. Freeman, Inc. be retained at a fee not exceeding the sum of $125. 00 to make a survey of the proposal to erect an elevated tank for additional sources of water and water pressure outside of the City Lirnits of Sanford in the Jonesboro Heights Section. District Ranger, Woodrow Davis and A. C. Farrell, Lee County Forest Ranger, presented the budget request for the fiscal year 1959-60 for Forest Fire Control. Dr. E R. Shanahan, Lee County Health Officer, appeared before the Board and gave report of the Health Department for the month of April, 1959. On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by Commissioner Measamer, the Board by unanimous vote authorized the correction of a clerical error in the listing of the real estate of E. W. Fields, Jr. , Queens Road, for the year 1956, said error being in listing Real Estate at $4750. 00 which includes a house started after January 1, 1956, whereas, only the lot, valued at $750. 00, should have been assessed for tax purposes, and a refund of $67. 72 was authorized and approved for said taxpayer for taxes paid under protest for the year 1956.
