• <br /> • <br /> LLB. -��,r.� . <br /> SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD <br /> -OF..COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> ' June 24, .1959 <br /> The Board of County Commisioners of Lee County-metiin Special Session <br /> in the Tax Collectors Office at the Courthouse •-louse on Wednesday night, <br /> June 24, 1959 at 7:30 o'clock P. M. pursuant to Notice of Special Meeting <br /> given as by law required. The following members of the Board were <br /> present for dispatch of business. <br /> Commissioners Clyde Atkins, Ralph Groce, Percy Measamer, Sion <br /> H. Kelly and Evander Winstead. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was transacted: <br /> The Chairman announced that the City of Sanford had appropriated-ear 6' <br /> had agreed to appropriate the sum of $10, 000. 00 towards the construction of <br /> a water tower in the Jonesboro Heights section of the City of-Sanford as an <br /> incentive to the industrial development of the City. The Chairman also <br /> announced that the City had agreed to take title to the water tower siteit <br /> and to assume the responsibility of maintenance for the tower and the water <br /> lines connecting it with the City water system. <br /> There then followed a detailed discussion of the question of the construction <br /> of a water tower as an incentive for the Industrial Development of Sanford <br /> and Lee County. After full discussion of this matter, Commissioner Measamer <br /> then moved the adoption of the following resolution, to-wit: <br /> "BE IT RESOLVED that there is hereby appropriated from the unexpended <br /> surplus funds of Lee County the sum of $30, 000. oa, which funds shall be used <br /> to assist the City of Sanford in the construction of a water storage tank <br /> outside the corporate limits of the City of Sanford in the Jonesboro Heights • <br /> Section and to assist the City of Sanford in the construction of water lines <br /> from said water storage tank to the water system in or at the corporate limits; <br /> of the City of Sanford; <br /> Be it further resolved that said sum of $30, 000. 00 shall be made available • <br /> and expended for the purposes aforesaid only at such time as' the City of <br /> Sanford shall accept deed to the site on which said water storage tank shall be <br /> located and shall agree to operate and maintain said storage tank and the <br /> connecting water lines. <br /> Be it further resolved that said appropriation is authorized and said funds <br /> are made available for the aforesaid Uses for the purpose of promoting the <br /> industrial development of the City of Sanford and the County of Lee. " <br /> Commissioner Groce seconded the motion for the adoption of the foregoing <br /> resolution and the vote on the same was as follows: - <br /> Atkins .- aye <br /> Groce - aye ' • <br /> Winstead - aye - <br /> Measamer - aye <br /> Kelly - aye <br /> The Chairman then instructed the Attorney to notify the officials of the <br /> City of Sanford and the officials of Saco Lowell Shops, Inc. of the resolution. <br />
