fie P • n.� se\ REGULAR MEETING OF BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS June 1, 1959 • • The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, June 1, 1959, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board present for dispatch of business:. Commissioners Kelly, Winstead and Atkins. The minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 4, 1959 were read and approved. • E. P. Clark, Caretaker of the Courthouse, reported on the condition of all buildings owned by the County. • D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, presented monthly report of the . activities of his office. Miss Monica Brown - Home Demonstration Agent, presented the monthly . report of the activities of her office. K. S: •Harmon, County Agent, appeared before the Board and gave report of the activities of his office. IwlS . Nette B: Keith, Register of Deeds, presented her report on the collection of fees by the Register of Deeds office for the month of A- I, 1959. Upon motion of Commissioner Winstead, seconded by C mmissioner Atkins,, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: , • WHEREAS, the United Daughters of the Confederacy-have requested that this Board go on record as designating a section of public highway in Lee County as a part of the. Jefferson Davis National Highway; and • ,WHEREAS, this Board is of the opinion that said section of Highway should be so designated: NOW, THEREFORE, be and it is hereby resolved that that Section of highway in the County described as follows: U. S. Highway No. 15 from the Chatham- Lee County line to its junction with U. S. Highway No. 1; thence South on U. S. Highway No. 1 to the Moore-Lee County line be named and designated by this Board as a part of the "Jefferson-Davis National Highway". By unanimous action of the Board, Commissioner Evander Winstead was designated as the Commissioners Appointee on the Lee County Welfare Board for the three year term beginning on July 1, 1959. Mrs. Laura Rosser, Supt. of Welfare, appeared before the Board and gave report of the activities of the Welfare Department for the month of May, 1959. Mrs. Rosser also submitted budget request for fiscal year 1959-60. Dr. E. R. Shanahan, Lee County Health Officer, appeared before the • Board and gave report of the Health Department for the month of May, 1959.
