`► `jd <br /> kst ithA �z-� , 7 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> July 6, 1959 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met in regular monthly <br /> session at the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Monday, July <br /> 6, 1959 at 10:00 o'clock A. M. with the following members of the Board <br /> present for dispatch of business:. <br /> Commissioners Ralph Grace, Evander Winstead, Sion H. Kelly, <br /> Clyde 'J. Atkins and Percy Measamer. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was. <br /> transacted: <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by the Rev. W. W. Hutchins, <br /> Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Sanford. <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of Jame 1, 1959,. the minutes of <br /> the special meetings of June 12, 1959 and.June 24, 1959. were read and <br /> approved. • . ., - <br /> D F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the activities of <br /> his office for the month of June. . <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer, presented monthly report <br /> of the activities of his office. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead, a/road petition submitted by Mrs. Will Tillman <br /> was unanimously approved. Said petition requested that a road in Pocket <br /> Township running from the Old Plank road at Wilson's Store to Governor's <br /> Creek Bridge known as the Glendon Road be paved. <br /> On'motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Groce, a road petition submitted by L. C. Wicker was <br /> unanimously approved. Said petition requested that a road located in West <br /> Sanford Township running from Highway No. 1 West to Northview Church, <br /> known as Northview Church Road, be graded and paved or graded and • <br /> treated- with gravel. <br /> J. W. Hoyle, Attorney, came before the Board to request that Annie <br /> M. Johnson, who practices under the name Sister Pocahontas , be licensed . <br /> to practice palmistry, fortune telling and clairvoyance in Lee County. <br /> No formal action was taken pending investigation of the applicant by the <br /> Sheriff's Department and the County Attorney. <br /> The monthly report of Miss Monica Brown, Home Demonstration <br /> Agent, was received by the Board. <br /> Monthly report of K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, and the report <br /> of Norman Brickhouse, Assistant County Agent, were received by the • <br /> Board. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Groce, which.motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead, the Chairman of the Board was unanimously <br /> authorized and directed to execute in behalf of the County a "Memorandum <br /> of understanding between the North Carolina Agricultural Extention Service <br />
