Dr <br /> Cfribil <br /> • p, 10' Rim,v <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> OF <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> September 8, 1959 <br /> The Board of Commissioners of Lee County met• in regular monthll_i <br /> session in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse on Tuesday, <br /> September 8, 1959, Monday being a• legal holiday, at 10:00 o'clock. . <br /> A. M. , with the following members of the Board present for dis- <br /> patch of business: <br /> Commissioners Sion H. Kelly, Evander Winstead, Percy Measamer, <br /> Ralph Groce and Clyde Atkins. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided'and the following business was <br /> transacted: . <br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of August 3 , <br /> 1959, were read and approved. <br /> Sheriff D. F. Holder presented report of the activities of the <br /> Sheriff's Department. <br /> • <br /> Commissioner Winstead moved that the Board request the Resident <br /> Judge that it be granted authority to pay those jurors called on <br /> the special venire in the case of State vs. Clarence Pugh who wen: <br /> not paid at the time of their presence in court, as a considerablc <br /> amount of ill-will had resulted from the fact that some members o:1 <br /> the special venire were paid and other members of the special <br /> venire were not paid. This motion was seconded by Commissioner <br /> Atkins and the same was adopted by unanimous vote of the Board. <br /> Commissioner Atkins then moved the adoption of the following <br /> resolution, to-wit: <br /> �' BE IT RESOLVED that no person called on a special venire as a <br /> juror be paid juror' s fee unless seated in the case; provided, <br /> however, this provision shall not be construed as preventing pay- <br /> ment of regular jurors' fees to members of a special venire call- <br /> ed from another County. <br /> The, motion for the adoption of this resolution was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead and the same was unanimously adopted. <br /> On motion of Commissioner Atkins, which motion was seconded by <br /> Commissioner Winstead, the pay of members of •coroner' s jurys and <br /> the pay of members of petit jurys called to hear or pass upon <br /> incompetents was 'set at $5.00 per day, said motion being adopted <br /> by unanimous vote of the Board. <br /> E. P. Clark, custodian of the courthouse, reported upon the <br /> condition of all buildings owned by the County. <br /> W. D. Gregson, Veterans Service Officer presented monthly <br /> report of the activities of his office. <br /> Mrs. Nette B. Keith, Register. of Deeds, presented report on thc: <br /> collections of fees by the office of Register of Deeds for the <br /> month of August 1959. <br /> Miss Monica Brown, Home Demonstration Agent, presented her <br /> monthly report to the Board. <br /> • <br /> • <br /> K.
