<br /> • The Board of Commissioners of'Lee County met in 'regular
<br /> monthly session in the Commissioners' Room at the Courthouse on
<br /> Monday, December 7, 1959, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. , with the following
<br /> members of the Board present for dispatch of business:
<br /> Commissioners Percy Measamer, Clyde, Atkins, Ralph Groce,
<br /> Sion H. Kelly and Evander Winstead
<br /> •
<br /> Commissioner Sion H. Kelly, chairman of the Board, presided,
<br /> and the following business was transacted: •
<br /> • The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Reuben Askew,
<br /> Pastor of Turners Chapel Church.
<br /> The minutes of the regular meeting of November 2, 1959, were
<br /> read and approved. -
<br /> •
<br /> ' By unanimous consent of the Board, Christmas Holidays for all
<br /> County employees were set to begin on Thursday, December 24, 1959,
<br /> at 12:00 o'clock noon, and to continue until Monday morning, December 28,
<br /> • 1959,
<br /> •
<br /> D. F. Holder, Sheriff, presented monthly report of the Sheriff's
<br /> Department.
<br /> W. D. Gregson, Veteran's Service Officer, presented monthly
<br /> report for the Veteran's Service Office. •
<br /> Mrs. Nette B. Keith, Register of Deeds; presented a report on the
<br /> collection of fees by the offide'of Register of Deeds for the month of
<br /> November, 1959. -
<br /> On motion of Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded
<br /> by Commissioner Measamer, the compensation for tax listers for the listing
<br /> of taxes for the year 1960 was unanimously set as follows: '
<br /> East. Sanford Township, $193: 50"
<br /> West Sanford Township, $193, 5'0 "—
<br /> Pocket Township, $177, 50, plus mileage W"
<br /> Greenwood Township;• .$182. 50; plus mileage
<br /> Deep River Township, $177. 50, plus mileag'e-zt--
<br /> 'Cape Fear Township, $177, 50, plus mileage .
<br /> Jonesboro Township, $182. 50
<br /> • K. S. Harmon, County Farm Agent, presented his monthly report.
<br /> • Mrs. Monica Brown Patterson, Home Demonstration Agent,
<br /> presented her monthly report. •
<br /> Mrs. Patterson then asked that her resignation as County Home
<br /> Demonstration Agent be accepted as of December 31, 1959. On motion of
<br /> Commissioner Winstead, which motion was seconded by Commissioner
<br /> Measamer, the Board unanimously accepted the resignation of Mrs.
<br /> Patterson, with regret. •
