MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> OF <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> 19 January 1961 - <br /> The Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, held <br /> pursuant to a call by the Chairman, convened at 8:15 o'clock P. M. , on <br /> Thursday, January 19th, 1961, in the Commissioner's Room at the Lee <br /> County Courthouse, the same being the time, date and place specified in <br /> the notice of said meeting. <br /> Those present when the meeting was called to order were: <br /> Chairman Clyde J. Atkins, Commissioners Edward W. Cox, Ralph Groce, <br /> and Percy Measamer. Commissioner Evander C. Winstead was absent at <br /> this time. <br /> Chairman Clyde J. Atkins presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> Mr. Clawson L. Williams, Jr. , Solicitor of the County Criminal <br /> Court and Assistant to the District Solicitor, appeared before the Board <br /> and submitted his resignation in writing as both Solicitor and Assistant <br /> to the District Solicitor to be effective as of the 19th of January, 1961. <br /> Commissioner Measamer moved the adoption of the following <br /> resolution: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of <br /> the County of Lee, that the resignation of Clawson L. Williams, <br /> Jr. , as Solicitor of the County Criminal Court and as Assistant <br /> to the District Solicitor is hereby accepted, effective as of the <br /> 19th day of January, 1961. <br /> Commissioner Groce seconded the motion and, upon a vote it was <br /> unanimously carried. <br /> Commissioner Evander C. Winstead then Joined the meeting and <br /> participated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br /> Chairman Clyde J. Atkins then declared the office of Solicitor of <br /> the County Criminal Court and of Assistant to the District Solicitor to <br /> be vacant and the floor open for nominations. <br /> Commissioner Measamer nominated J. Allen Harrington for the <br /> office of Solicitor of the County Criminal Court and Assistant to the <br /> District Solicitor. Commissioner Winstead seconded the nomination <br /> of Mr. Harrington. There being no further nominations, the Chairman <br /> declared the nominations closed; and upon a vote, Mr. Harrington was <br /> unanimously elected. <br /> After discussion concerning the salary, Commissioner Winstead <br /> moved the adoption of the following: <br />
