MINUTES OF ADJOURNED REGULAR <br /> MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONER S <br /> 4 April 1961 <br /> The adjourned Regular Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners <br /> convened at 10:00 o'clock A. M. , on April 4, 1961, in the Commissioners <br /> Room tit the Lee County Courthouse. <br /> Those present were Chairman Clyde J. Atkins, Commissioners Edward <br /> W. Cox, Ralph Grote, Percy Measamer and Evander C . Winstead. None of <br /> the Commissioners were absent. <br /> Chairman Clyde J. Atkins presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> Mary Estelle Doyle, County Home Economics Agent, gave a report on the <br /> activities of her office for the month of March. <br /> Sheriff D. F. Holder presented a written report on the activities of his <br /> office. <br /> Mr. Ken Harrnonnnd Mr. Norman Brickhouse reported on the activities <br /> of the office of the County Agricultural Agent. Their request for parking space <br /> on the Cole Street side of the Courthouse Annex was referred to Commissioner <br /> Cox. <br /> W. D. Gregson, County Veterans Officer, presented a written report <br /> on the activities of his office. <br /> Mr. Paul Lucas, Tax Supervisor, appeared before the Board with <br /> respect to the policy pertaining to disabled veterans. Mr. Lucas was <br /> advised that the policy of the Board was to handle each disabled veteran's <br /> request on an individual basis. <br /> Mrs. Laura D. Rosser, Superintendent, presented the report on the <br /> Department of Lee County Welfare. <br /> Mr. L. L. Beckhamn, Civil Defense Director. presented a written report <br /> on the activities of his office. The request received from the Cape Fear Fire <br /> Department were given to Mr. Beckham for his investigation and report to the <br /> Board. <br /> Mr. Nolan, Sales Representative of Photostat Corporation, appeared <br /> before the Board and discussed the sale and purchase of a Photostat 14. 18 recorder <br /> for use in the Register of Deeds office. The sales price was $9, 400. S0 to be paid is <br /> in three annual installments with 60 day delivery on the equipment. <br /> J. Chandler Bakes, Register of Deeds, ;,.ve a written report on the <br /> activities of his office. <br /> Dr. Garvin gave a report on the activities of the Health Department and <br /> presented a sketch of a proposed dog pound for the consideration of the Board. <br /> Jurors for the 1961 Term of Civil Court in Leers County Superior Court <br /> for May 8th and May 13th. were drawn as follows: <br />
