I p — — - BOOK 6 PACE 61 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 6 August 1962 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners convened at 10:15 o'clock a. m. on the 6th day of August, 1962, at the Commissioner's Room at the Lee County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman Clyde J. Atkins, Commissioners Edward W. Cox, Ralph Groce, Sion H. Kelly and Evander C. Winstead. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman Clyde J. Atkins presided and the following business was transacted; The written report of W. D. Gregson, Veteran's Service Officer, was presented to the Board on behalf of the Board of Veteran's Affairs. The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff, on behalf of the Sheriff's Department was presented to the Board. Miss Mary Estelle Doyle, County Home Economist, appeared before the Board and gave a report on the activities of her office. Mr. Ken Harmon, County Agricultural Agent, appeared before the Board and gave a report on the activities of the Agricultural Agent's office. Mr. Norman Brickhouse, the Assistant County Agricultural Agent, had resigned since the last sitting of the Board of Commissioners. Mrs. Laura Rosser, Director, appeared before the Board and presented a report on behalf of the Department of Public Welfare. Mr. J. Chandler Eakes, appeared before the Board and gave a report on the activities of the office of the Register of Deeds. Mr. Paul Lucas, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board and gave a report on the collections of his office during the month of July. ' Mr. E. P. Clark, Superintendent of the County Buildings, appeared before the Board and gave a report on the condition of the County Buildings. Commissioner Winstead moved the adoption of the following resolution with respect to the Loop Rood off Carbonton Road: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requestng that the above described road, the location of which has been in- dicated in red on the attached map, be added to the system of county roads now maintained by the State Highway Commission; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, after careful investigation, deems the proposed addition of said road to the County Road System and its maintenance by the State Highway Commission necessary to adequately serve the citizens of said County. NOW, THEREFORE, the State Highway Commission, is requested to take over said road for maintenance and the addition of said road and revisions in location deemed necessary by the State Highway Commission are hereby approved. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion and it was unanimously carried. The Jury Lists were drawn as follows:
