Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business was transacted: The written report of E. M. Underwood. Claris of the Superior Court was presented to die hoard. The wrlt<on t'e+pari of D. F. Faider. Sheriff of Lee County, was presented co the Board. Miss Mary Estelle Doyle. County Nome Extension Agent. appeared before the bard and presented a written etatliticai'report on the activities of 6er.office. - Mr. Thomas M.- Fiaislip,. County Bstentilon Chairman; and Mr. Bill l'rico. -Assistant Agricultural Exteettetica Agent, eppeared before the Board•and.preaented a wfltttn report oti the activities of their office. • Mr. Thomas M. Halslip, Cry Extension Chairman. pre- sented a Certificate of Merit to,Mtse Allie r` . McQllvary in reccignition of her efficient and loyal-service as Secret+ to•the Entension Department. Commissioner Ian E. Dotterer joined the ruing and partici- pated in the further.dalibcrations of the Board. Mr. Paul Lucas, Tax Collector. appeared before the Board and presented.a written report of his ectiocttous;during the month of ja.nuary. • Mr. J. Chandler Bakes,' 1tegicwr of Deeds, tgrayeared before the Board and presented a writtcn'report on the documents reset ded and fees collar ted during the month'of January. Mr. Raymond Ledford, Director tif•4ublto Welfare, "appeared . before'.the Board and presented a written report on the activities of the De*artu ent.of Public Welfare. • Comthisaloner J. T. Ledrtdl-called to the attention of the Board that the annual audit of the Clerk of,Superior rcoUrt office had net been received. Commissioner John E. Dotterer distributed copies otitis Lee County pr aho•tho North Carolina Fund and reviewed its contents. Dr. •_Datterer reported that Members of the.North'datrolina Fund are to come • down'etthset Bari La February to go over the proposal with the committee. Chairman Kr:!ly reported that the State Highway Commission bed offered to pay $300.00 as damages for taking a strip off the front of the don-Anomie block. The matter was referred to Commissioner Cott.
