MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br /> MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> Monday, 27th July 1964 <br /> The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br /> for Lee County, North Carolina, convened at 9:00 o'clock A. M. , on Monday, <br /> 27th July 1964, at the Commissioners Room in the Lee County Courthouse , <br /> pursuant to the motion of adjournment adopted at the regular meeting held on <br /> Monday, 6 july 1964. <br /> Those present when the meeting was called to order were <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly, Commissioners Clyde J. Atkins, John E. Dotterer, <br /> and J. T. Ledwell. Commissioner Edward W. Cox was absent. <br /> Chairman Sion H. Kelly presided and the following business <br /> was transacted: <br /> Commissioner Dotterer moved that the draft of the budget <br /> resolution be amended as follows: <br /> Section 13. Delete the beading "Maturities" and insert <br /> the word "Issue" as heading over the list of bond issues. <br /> Section 16. Insert the word "'Issue" as heading over <br /> the list of bond issues. <br /> Section 21. Delete the words "out of" following "approp- <br /> riated" in the first sentence. <br /> Insert the word and figures "(approximately <br /> $52,1300.00)" following the words "Sanford Graded "s a District". <br /> Insert the word and figures "(approximately <br /> $24, 181.00)" following the words "Jonesboro Graded School <br /> District". <br /> The motion was seconded and duly adopted. <br /> Commissioner Ledwell stated that since the Manager of <br /> the City of Sanford had written to the Board that the Aldermen had declined <br /> to participate in the mental health program, he moved the items included in <br /> the budget estimate for the City dump, the City fire department. and the <br /> recreation program be deleted from the budget resolution. Commissioner <br /> Ledwell stated that the City of Sanford was authorized to levy ten cents for <br /> recreation but had levied only eight cents and he did not feel like participating <br /> in this program unless the City levied the full amount authorized. <br /> There was no second to the motion and Chairman Kelly <br /> ruled the motion failed for lack of a second. <br />
