fike BOOK 6 PACE 372 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY , NORTH CAROLINA TUESDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER 1965 r r * * * * ,t * * * * * * * n * *. * * * n * * * *r * * * * * * * * m The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee convened in the Commissioners' Room at the Lee County Courthouse at 10:00 o'clock A.M. on Tuesday, the 7th day of September 1965, since Monday, the 6th day of September 1965 was a public holiday under General Statute 103-4. Those present were Chairman John E. Dotterer and Commissioners Sion H. Kelly, J. T. Ledwell, Max McLeod and Charles Robert Yow. None of the Commissioners were absent. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The meeting was opened by prayer given by Reverand Hampton Price, • Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Sanford, North Carolina. The Chairman declared the floor open for nominations for the office of Tax Supervisor to hold office until the first Monday in July 1967 or until his successor is appointed and has qualified. Commissioner McLeod nominated James L. Clark. Commissioner Ledwell seconded the nomination. There were no other nominations. Upon motion made and seconded, it was resolved to elect Mr. Clark as Tax Supervisor by acclamation for the term prescribed by law by a roll call vote as follows: AYE: Kelly, Ledwell, McLeod, Yow and Dotterer NAY: None Commissioner Kelly moved the adoption of the following resolution with respect to the road running from Secondary Road No. 1144 back of St. Andrews Church to Secondary Road No. 1146: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by die State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria.
