0 <br /> i^cz 7 ??'H 89 <br /> MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br /> COUNTY , NORTH CAROLINA <br /> Wednesday , 22 March 1967 <br /> • <br /> A Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br /> North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room at the Lee County Court- <br /> house on Wednesday, March 22, 1967, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. , the same being <br /> the time, date, and place specified in the call of the meeting issued by the Chair- <br /> man. Chairman John E. Dotterer, and Commissioners Max McLeod, Aubrey E. <br /> White, and Franklin D. Wicker were present. Commissioner Charles Robert <br /> Yow was absent. <br /> Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: <br /> Representatives of the Sandhills Community Action Program and of <br /> the Housing and Urban Development Department, appeared before the Board and <br /> discussed the open space, urban beautification and neighborhood facility programs <br /> sponsored by the Federal Government. No formal action was taken by the Board. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Wicker, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $500.00 from unappropriated <br /> surplus in the General Fund derived from non-tax sources for the use of the Band <br /> from Sanford Central High School, in promoting Lee County as an industrial site <br /> and center. <br /> The motion was adopted upon a roll call vote as follows: <br /> Aye: McLeod, White, Wicker and Dotterer <br /> No: None <br /> There was a discussion about the problems created by wild dogs running <br /> at large in the County, but no formal action was taken except to have it placed on the <br /> agenda for the next regular meeting. <br /> It was reported that various Registrars and Judges would be unable to <br /> serve for the Special School Annexation election, and after discussion, Commissioner <br /> McLeod moved the appointment of the following persons: <br /> Area 5 - Registrar - Mrs. Harold Phillips, in lieu of Mrs. <br /> M. L. Johnson, Jr. <br /> Area 1 - 'Judge - Mrs. Blanch Donnell, in lieu of Mrs.. Bill <br /> Joyce, <br /> Area 5 - Judge - Mrs. Katie M. Oldham, in lieu of Mrs. <br /> Harold Phillips, and Mrs. Joann M. McMillian, in lieu of <br /> Mrs. Norman J. McCleney. <br /> Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br /> unanimously adopted. <br /> There being no further business co come before the Session, it was <br /> adjourned, sine die. <br /> Attes : // Chairman <br /> /25441C-- <br /> Clerk U • <br />
