None <br /> of the Commissioners were absent. <br /> v11 <br /> — Chairman John E. potterer presided and the following business was <br /> transacted: , <br /> n 1 Mr. J. E. Davis, Vice Chairman of the Samford City Board of <br /> Education, requested to be recognized and read a prepared statement frou; the <br /> ,) Sanford City Board of Education, pertaining to the proposed Bill concerning school <br /> unit consolidation. <br /> There was a general discussion about the proposed school Bill <br /> J concerning making the calling of the electiem optional with the Board and the <br /> J eaenount of aupplentary tax. <br /> — Mr. Davis again asked to be recognized audit ated that his Board did <br /> not want to help improve what they considered to be a bad Bill, and they asked <br /> that the Bill be withdrawn. The County Board of Edreation concurred in this <br /> Lilian. <br /> IUpon motion of Commissioner McLeod, and seconded by Commissioner <br /> Vow, it was RESOLVED to matte the following improvements to the County Buildings, <br /> namely: erect a brick wall in the Register of Deeds office to facilitate storage of <br /> voting records; to install shelving for the Clerk of Superior Court and the Sheriff; <br /> and °halving tied fire escape at the County Jail, to comply with the Jail inspection <br /> report. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Conunlmsloner <br /> Yew, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to amend the proposed School <br /> Merger Bill to provide for a 300 countywide supplementary tax. <br /> Upon motion of Cocwnisskzter White, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Wicker, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to delete the provision for <br /> an interim Board of Trustees in the proposed School Merger all. <br /> The County Attorney was directed to make a new draft of the School <br /> Bill incorporating che€a change; and to forward it to the Representatives in the <br /> General-Assembly. <br />
