U04 7:~:231 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, July 1st, 1968 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of. Commissioners for Lee <br />County, convened in the Commissioners' room at the Lee County Courthouse in <br />Sanford, on Monday, June 3rd, 1968, at 10:00 o'clock a. m. Those present were <br />Chairman-John E. Dotterer, Commissioners Max McLeod, A. E. White, Franklin <br />D. Wicker, and Charles Robert Yow. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />Mr. Robert Harris, City Manager, appeared before the Board <br />and discussed with them efforts being made to locate a new industry in Lee County. <br />Sheriff D. F. Holder appeared before the Board and requested <br />that his budget request be amended to provide for another Deputy Sheriff and the <br />appointment of a dog warden who would work out of his office and that a differential <br />be made in the jailer's salary who had one of the night shifts. The Board advised <br />the Sheriff the matters would be taken under advisement and any adjustments made <br />would be reflected in the budget adopted. <br />Mr. Gabe Holmes, Chairman of the Board of Veteran's Affairs, <br />appeared before the Board and presented the quarterly report of that Board. Mr. <br />Holmes advised the Board that it had appointed Mrs. Mary Alice Crissman as the <br />Veteran's Service Officer and asked that the Board of Commissioners approve and <br />confirm their action. Upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Comm- <br />issioner White and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was RESOLVED to affirm <br />and approve the appointment of Mrs. Mary Alice Crissman as Veteran's Service <br />Officer. <br />The Clerk reported to the Board that the bond order entitled "Bond <br />Order authorizing the issuance of $5, 000, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", <br />which had been introduced on June 3rd, 1968, has been published in the Sanford Daily <br />Herald, on June 14 and 21, 1968, with notice that the Board of Commissioners would <br />hold a public hearing thereon on July 1st, 1968, at 10:30 o=clock a. m. <br />Commissioner McLeod moved that the Board proceed to hold a public <br />hearing on the bond order. The motion was seconded by CommissionerWicker and <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />At 10:30 o'clock A. M., the Chairman announced that the Board <br />would hear any citizen or taxpayer who desired to be heard with respect to the bond <br />order. At the direction of the Chairman, the Clerk read the bond order and the <br />published notice of hearing. <br />After the Board had heard all persons who requested to be heard, <br />Commissioner McLeod moved that the public hearing be closed. The motion was <br />seconded Commissioner Wicker and was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner McLeod moved that the following resolution be <br />adopted: <br />
