U04 7:~:231 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, July 1st, 1968 The regular meeting of the Board of. Commissioners for Lee County, convened in the Commissioners' room at the Lee County Courthouse in Sanford, on Monday, June 3rd, 1968, at 10:00 o'clock a. m. Those present were Chairman-John E. Dotterer, Commissioners Max McLeod, A. E. White, Franklin D. Wicker, and Charles Robert Yow. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Mr. Robert Harris, City Manager, appeared before the Board and discussed with them efforts being made to locate a new industry in Lee County. Sheriff D. F. Holder appeared before the Board and requested that his budget request be amended to provide for another Deputy Sheriff and the appointment of a dog warden who would work out of his office and that a differential be made in the jailer's salary who had one of the night shifts. The Board advised the Sheriff the matters would be taken under advisement and any adjustments made would be reflected in the budget adopted. Mr. Gabe Holmes, Chairman of the Board of Veteran's Affairs, appeared before the Board and presented the quarterly report of that Board. Mr. Holmes advised the Board that it had appointed Mrs. Mary Alice Crissman as the Veteran's Service Officer and asked that the Board of Commissioners approve and confirm their action. Upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Comm- issioner White and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was RESOLVED to affirm and approve the appointment of Mrs. Mary Alice Crissman as Veteran's Service Officer. The Clerk reported to the Board that the bond order entitled "Bond Order authorizing the issuance of $5, 000, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", which had been introduced on June 3rd, 1968, has been published in the Sanford Daily Herald, on June 14 and 21, 1968, with notice that the Board of Commissioners would hold a public hearing thereon on July 1st, 1968, at 10:30 o=clock a. m. Commissioner McLeod moved that the Board proceed to hold a public hearing on the bond order. The motion was seconded by CommissionerWicker and was unanimously adopted. At 10:30 o'clock A. M., the Chairman announced that the Board would hear any citizen or taxpayer who desired to be heard with respect to the bond order. At the direction of the Chairman, the Clerk read the bond order and the published notice of hearing. After the Board had heard all persons who requested to be heard, Commissioner McLeod moved that the public hearing be closed. The motion was seconded Commissioner Wicker and was unanimously adopted.
