IQ <br />Lep <br />BOOK 7 pAOE 303 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE <br />Monday, December 2, 1968 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee <br />convened at the Lee County courthouse at 10:00 A. M. , E. S. T. , Monday, December. 2, <br />1968. Those present were Dr. Jolm E. Dotterer, William B. Joyce, Aubrey E. White, <br />Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />It appearing that Commissioners John E. Dotterer, Aubrey E. White and <br />Franklin D. Wicker had two years remaining on their terms of office and that Commis- <br />sioners William B. Joyce and Gordon A. Wicker had been elected to four-year terms at <br />the general election held on November 11, 1968, they qualified for office and were <br />administered the oath of office as follows: Mr. Joyce was administered the oath of <br />office by Sion H. Kelly, Clerk of the Superior Court and Mr. Gordon A. Wicker was <br />administered the oath of office by the Honorable Harvey A. Lupton, Judge of the Superior <br />Court, who was presiding over the regular session of Superior Court for Lee County. <br />The oaths were deposited with the Clerk of Superior Court. <br />The Board then proceeded to induct into office the duly elected public officials. <br />His Honor, Harvey A. Lupton, Judge of the Superior Court, administered the statutory <br />oath of office to the following persons for the offices indicated: Register of Deeds, J. <br />Chandler Eakes; Magistrate, Zenpis T. Lee; Constable East Sanford Township, Patricia <br />Ann Oldham; Constable, West Sanford Township, Wayne Oldham. The oaths of all of <br />these public officials were deposited with the Clerk of Superior Court. <br />Following the induction ceremony in the courtroom, Commissioners retired <br />to the Commissioners room and proceeded to reorganize the Board. <br />A vote by secret ballot was held for the position of Chairman of the Board. <br />John E. Dotterer received three votes and Aubrey E. White received two votes and <br />Dr. John E. Dotterer was declared elected as Chairman of the Board for the ensuing <br />year as provided by law. Chairman Dotterer assumed the chair and presided over the <br />further deliberations of the Board. <br />A vote was held for the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board and <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker was unanimously elected to serve as Vice-Chairman <br />for the ensuing year. <br />A ballot was held to select the County Attorney. K. R. Hoyle was unanimously <br />elected. Upon motion made, seconded and duly carried, it was resolved to employ K. R. <br />Hoyle as County Attorney. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and duly carried, it was resolved to appoint <br />K. R. Hoyle as Clerk to the County Commissioners. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and duly carried, it was resolved to appoint <br />Mrs. Beatrice C. Fields as County Accountant. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and duly carried, it was resolved to request <br />the present Tax Collector and Depputy Tax Collector to continue to serve in those <br />capacities at the pleasure of the Board. <br />
