BOOK 7 PACE 315 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />FEBRUARY 3, 1969 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee <br />convened in the Commissioners room at the Lee County Courthouse at 9:00 o'clock <br />A. M. on Monday, February 3, 1969. Those present were Chairman John E. Dotterer <br />and Commissioners W. B. Joyce, A. E. White, F. D. Wicker, and G. A. Wicker. <br />None of the Commissioners was absent. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Chairman Dotterer extended the congratulations of the Board to Commissioner <br />F. D. Wicker upon his selection as Farmer of the Year by the Sanford Junior <br />Chamber of Commerce for the second time. <br />Mr. Ben Brooks, Superintendent of the Lee County Board of Education <br />appeared before the Board. concerning the request for funds to pay teacher salary <br />supplements. Mr. Brooks stated to the Board that the County Board intended to <br />retain in the system any teacher with a B certificate who has proven himself or <br />herself as a teacher in the past. He also stated the Sanford City Board of Education <br />had assured them they would pay the same scale of supplements as they paid last <br />year, which is B-$200; A- $250; G-$300.00. Commissioner Joyce moved that the <br />Board of Commissioners advise the Lee County Board of Education it is their <br />intention to include $35, 000 in the budget for the coming fiscal year for the purpose <br />of paying supplements to teachers as follows: <br />Certificate <br />B <br />A <br />G <br />Supplement <br />$200 <br />$250 <br />$300 <br />Commissioner A. E. White seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote Messrs. <br />Joyce, White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker &=Dotterer voted for the resolution and no one <br />voted against it. <br />The Board had a discussion with Superintendent, Brooks and Chairman J. <br />Glenn Edwards about other budgetary matters but no formal action was taken. <br />Chairman Dotterer advised the Board the Finance Committee had recommended <br />the $35, 000 bond anticipation note be renewed for six months and that provisions be <br />made to retire it in the next budget.,, Commissioner F. Wicker moved that the Board <br />adopt and implement the recommendations of the Finance Committee. Commissioner <br />Joyce seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote Messrs. Joyce, White, F. Wicker, <br />G. Wicker, and Dotterer voted for it. No one voted against it. <br />Chairman Dotterer advised the Board that two vacancies existed on the Lee <br />County Planning Board. No action was taken at this time. <br />Mr. Hubert Gardner appeared before the Board and requested the Board to <br />give consideration to advancing Secondary Road 1425 on the priority list for <br />improvements. <br />
