r BOOK T PAA34 <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 1969 <br />The regular meeting of•the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North <br />Carolina, convened in.the Commissioners' Room on the second floor in the County <br />Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets,. Sanford, North Carolina, <br />at 10:00 o'clock A. M. on Tuesday,. April 8, 1969. The first Monday of April fell <br />on a legal holiday (Easter Monday) and the regular meeting was held on the following <br />Tuesday, in accordance with G.. S. 53-8. Those present were Chairman John E. <br />Dotterer and Commissioners William B. Joyce, A. E. White, Franklin D.. Wicker <br />and Gordon A.. Wicker. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the meeting held on March 3, 1969 were approved and <br />ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Frank Wicker presented and discussed petitions requesting <br />the paving of S. R. 1322, known as the Tempting Church Road, and the Pierce Road <br />in Greenwood Township and for the addition of a new road which would be an <br />extension of S. R. No. 1168. After discussion, Commissioner Frank Wicker moved <br />the adoption of the following resolution with respect to the Tempting Church,Road <br />and the Pierce Road: <br />.WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of <br />Lee has investigated the condition of the above described road which <br />is now a part of the system of roads maintained by the State Highway <br />Commission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered <br />by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed <br />necessary that said road be improved in order to better serve the <br />interests of,the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County <br />Commissioners hereby approved and request that the State Highway <br />Commission make the following improvements in the above-described <br />road: paved. <br />Commissioner Joyce seconded the motion and upon a vote, the resolution was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Frank Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution <br />with respect to the new road to be known as an extension of S. R. 1168: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above <br />described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the <br />attached map, be added to the Secondary Road system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion <br />that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road <br />System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established <br />
