BOON 7 pAu 369 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Saturday, July 26, 1969 The Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, held pursuant to a call issued under the authority of General Statutes of North Carolina 153-8, convened in the Commissioners' Room, in the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 9 o'clock a. m., on Saturday, July 26, 1969, the same being the time, date and place specified in the call. Those present were Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker, anc Commissioners A. E. White, William B. Joyce and Gordon A. Wicker. Chair- man John E. Dotterer was absent. Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: Commissioner W. B. Joyce presented and read the following statement of resignation: "Board of Commissioners For Lee County, N. C. Sanford, North Carolina Gentlemen: I have been appointed a member of the State Highway Commission by Governor Scott and it is my intention to accept such appointment because of the opportunity for service to the people of this area. For this reason I tender my resignation as a member of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee and ask that it be accepted immediately. I want to thank the members of the Board of Commissioners for their cooperation and assistance while I was a member of the Board and to express to the people of Lee County my gratitude for the opportunity to serve them. Yours truly, (Signed) W. B. Joyce" Upon motion of Commissioner A. E. White, duly seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was Resolved to accept the resignation of Commissioner Joyce, and to extend to him the Board's congratulations on his appointment and to wish him well in his new position.
