BOON 7 pAu 369 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Saturday, July 26, 1969 <br />The Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, held pursuant to a call issued under the authority of General <br />Statutes of North Carolina 153-8, convened in the Commissioners' Room, in <br />the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the <br />City of Sanford, at 9 o'clock a. m., on Saturday, July 26, 1969, the same <br />being the time, date and place specified in the call. <br />Those present were Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker, anc <br />Commissioners A. E. White, William B. Joyce and Gordon A. Wicker. Chair- <br />man John E. Dotterer was absent. <br />Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />Commissioner W. B. Joyce presented and read the following <br />statement of resignation: <br />"Board of Commissioners <br />For Lee County, N. C. <br />Sanford, North Carolina <br />Gentlemen: <br />I have been appointed a member of the State Highway <br />Commission by Governor Scott and it is my intention to accept <br />such appointment because of the opportunity for service to the <br />people of this area. For this reason I tender my resignation as <br />a member of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee <br />and ask that it be accepted immediately. <br />I want to thank the members of the Board of Commissioners <br />for their cooperation and assistance while I was a member of <br />the Board and to express to the people of Lee County my gratitude <br />for the opportunity to serve them. <br />Yours truly, <br />(Signed) W. B. Joyce" <br />Upon motion of Commissioner A. E. White, duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was Resolved to accept the resignation of <br />Commissioner Joyce, and to extend to him the Board's congratulations on his <br />appointment and to wish him well in his new position. <br />
