HOOK 7 mu -372 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, August 5, 1969 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room at <br />the County Office Building on the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the <br />City of Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina, at 9 o'clock a, m., on Mondai-, <br />August 5th, 1969. <br />Those present were Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker and <br />Commissioners A. E. White, Perry White, and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />John E. Dotterer was absent. <br />Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />Vice-Chairman Wicker requested that the minutes reflect that <br />Commissioner Perry White had duly qualified for office as County Commissioner <br />by taking the requisite oath before the Judge)of the Superior Court on Monday, <br />July 28th, 1969. <br />A delegation of Electrical Contractors appeared before the Board <br />and discussed the matter of selecting a new Electrical Inspector. No formal <br />action was taken at that time. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was <br />presented to the Board. <br />The written report of Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, <br />reflecting his collections for the preceding month was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of Mr. John Wood, as Electrical Inspector <br />for his activities during the month of July, was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of the Agricultural Extension Department was <br />presented to the Board. <br />Mr. E. C. Dobbs appeared before the Board and complained. about <br />a collection of motor vehicles and trucks near the property of Randy Turner on <br />old U. S. No. 1 near the Cole Lumber Company, south of Sanford, <br />Mr. L. L. Beckham, Director of the Sanford-Lee County Depart- <br />ment of Civil Defense, appeared before the Board and advised them about the <br />activities of the Civil Defense Department, of the efforts being made for assistance <br />to the law enforcement in Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke and Lee Counties. Comm- <br />issioner A. E. White moved that Mr. L. L. Beckham be designated as the <br />contracting officer with the Federal Government about the publishing of Civil <br />Defense Plans in Lee County. <br />
