HOOK 7 mu -372 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, August 5, 1969 The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room at the County Office Building on the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina, at 9 o'clock a, m., on Mondai-, August 5th, 1969. Those present were Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker and Commissioners A. E. White, Perry White, and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer was absent. Vice-Chairman Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: Vice-Chairman Wicker requested that the minutes reflect that Commissioner Perry White had duly qualified for office as County Commissioner by taking the requisite oath before the Judge)of the Superior Court on Monday, July 28th, 1969. A delegation of Electrical Contractors appeared before the Board and discussed the matter of selecting a new Electrical Inspector. No formal action was taken at that time. The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was presented to the Board. The written report of Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, reflecting his collections for the preceding month was presented to the Board. The written report of Mr. John Wood, as Electrical Inspector for his activities during the month of July, was presented to the Board. The written report of the Agricultural Extension Department was presented to the Board. Mr. E. C. Dobbs appeared before the Board and complained. about a collection of motor vehicles and trucks near the property of Randy Turner on old U. S. No. 1 near the Cole Lumber Company, south of Sanford, Mr. L. L. Beckham, Director of the Sanford-Lee County Depart- ment of Civil Defense, appeared before the Board and advised them about the activities of the Civil Defense Department, of the efforts being made for assistance to the law enforcement in Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke and Lee Counties. Comm- issioner A. E. White moved that Mr. L. L. Beckham be designated as the contracting officer with the Federal Government about the publishing of Civil Defense Plans in Lee County.
