BOOK 7 pAu 375 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 2nd, 1969 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />County of Lee, North Carolina, convened on Tuesday, September 2nd, 1969, <br />at 10 o'clock a, m., in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building <br />at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, Lee County, <br />North Carolina. <br />Those present were Chairman John E. Dotterer and Commissioners <br />A. E. White, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker and Gordon A. Wicker. None of <br />the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following busin ess was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the Special Meeting held on August 22, 1969, were <br />approved and ordered recorded. <br />The Clerk reported that a notice of application for beer permit had <br />been submitted by Mr. Clyde Atkins for the Atkins Grocery Store at the corner of <br />Charlotte Avenue and Oakwood Street in the City of Sanford. <br />Chairman reported that the Board of Social Services had requested <br />an additional appropriation to cover their dues in the State Association. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner A. E. <br />White, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $100. 00 from the unappropriated <br />surplus in the General Fund to the Budget for the Department of Social Services <br />for the purpose of paying the dues of the County Board of Social Services in the <br />State Association. The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYE: A. E. White, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, <br />Gordon A. Wicker and Dr. John E. Dotterer <br />NO: None <br />The Chairman then opened bids for the purchase of the metal <br />building known as the old Helms Motor Express building, located on the <br />Wicker property purchased for the Hospital. The high bid was submitted by Mr. <br />David Watson, at the price of $126. 00. The other bid was submitted by Mr. C. W. <br />Forrest, in the amount of $100. 00. Commissioner A. E. White moved that the <br />County accept the high bid of Mr. David Watson at the figure of $126. 00. The motion <br />was duly seconded and upon a vote the resolution was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner A. E. White, duly seconded by <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, it was unanimously RESOLVED to request the <br />State Highway Commissionto investigate the guard rails and safety devices on the <br />road around Oldham's Lake in Clearwater Forest. <br />Chairman Dotterer reported on themessage received from <br />Chairman Harward of the County School Board, reporting that the merger <br />committee did not have a report to make at this time. <br />
