BOOK 7 PACE 417 <br />Cl <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />March 16, 1970 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners <br />for Lee County, North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County <br />Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, <br />at 10 o'clock a. m., on Monday, March 16, 1970, the same being the hour, date <br />and place duly established for the holding of such meeting in the resolution of <br />adjournment. <br />The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the <br />following answered present: Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. <br />Wicker and John E. Dotterer. <br />The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open <br />for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the <br />following business was transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 2, 1970, were <br />approved and ordered recorded. <br />Mr. L.. L. Beckham, Director of the Sanford-Lee County Civil <br />Defense Department, and Mr. Bill Bryant, from the Ambulance Department, <br />appeared before the Board and discussed the possibility of obtaining a grant to <br />secure radio equipment for use by the Ambulance Department. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Perry <br />White, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Ambulance Department to proceed with <br />an application for a grant through the Governor's Committee on Highway Safety, <br />to secure radio equipment to establish communication between the Ambulance <br />and the Hospital. <br />Upon a roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: <br />Aye: White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />Nay: None <br />There was a discussion concerning the old Ambulance equipment <br />held by the Ambulance Department and the Rescue Squad. Upon motion made, <br />duly seconded, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Ambulance Department to <br />dispose of the Pontiac Ambulance and to request the Sanford=Lee County Rescue <br />Squad to dispose of their old Ambulance. <br />Upon the roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: <br />Aye: White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and,Dotterer <br />Nay: None <br />The Board authorized Mr. Beckham to make inquiry through the <br />Department of Administration to find out what governmental assistance was <br />available for Recreation Programs or facilities. <br />The Chairman reported that the Board had received a written <br />acknowledgement of its expression of sympathy from the family of Commissioner <br />A. E. White. <br />
