BOOK 7 PACE 417 Cl MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA March 16, 1970 The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building, at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 10 o'clock a. m., on Monday, March 16, 1970, the same being the hour, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting in the resolution of adjournment. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answered present: Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker and John E. Dotterer. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the regular meeting held on March 2, 1970, were approved and ordered recorded. Mr. L.. L. Beckham, Director of the Sanford-Lee County Civil Defense Department, and Mr. Bill Bryant, from the Ambulance Department, appeared before the Board and discussed the possibility of obtaining a grant to secure radio equipment for use by the Ambulance Department. Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Perry White, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Ambulance Department to proceed with an application for a grant through the Governor's Committee on Highway Safety, to secure radio equipment to establish communication between the Ambulance and the Hospital. Upon a roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: Aye: White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer Nay: None There was a discussion concerning the old Ambulance equipment held by the Ambulance Department and the Rescue Squad. Upon motion made, duly seconded, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Ambulance Department to dispose of the Pontiac Ambulance and to request the Sanford=Lee County Rescue Squad to dispose of their old Ambulance. Upon the roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: Aye: White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and,Dotterer Nay: None The Board authorized Mr. Beckham to make inquiry through the Department of Administration to find out what governmental assistance was available for Recreation Programs or facilities. The Chairman reported that the Board had received a written acknowledgement of its expression of sympathy from the family of Commissioner A. E. White.
