s <br />BOOK 7 Pace 440 <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />' MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />i <br />15 JUNE 1970 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building at the corner <br />of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. on Monday, June <br />15, 1970, the same being the hour, date, and place duly established for the holding of such <br />meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call the following answered <br />present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker, and <br />John E. Dotterer. <br />The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />A request by Chieftain Kennels for use of the County's parking lot for dog' <br />training was denied. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that Mr. W. M. Womble and <br />Mr. Elliot Clark be reappointed to the County Personnel Board for the terms established <br />by the resolution establishing said board. Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Board then proceeded to open bids received on maintenance of office <br />machines. The low bid was submitted by Mac's Typewriter Company in the amount of <br />$658.09. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved the low bid be accepted and the <br />contract awarded to Mac's Typewriter Company. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Perry White read a letter from Mr. Paul Gay about the <br />gymnasium's condition. The Board directed the letter be sent to the Sanford City Board <br />of Education. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented a petition forwarded by <br />Mr. Loyd Lyon requesting the addition of the following streets to the State maintained <br />Secondary Road System: <br />(a) Swan Street to Hudson Avenue <br />(b) From present end of Boykin Avenue to Seaboard Coast. Line Railroad <br />(c) Wayne Street from Washington. Avenue to Hudson Avenue <br />(d) Gary Street and continuing on Hooker Street from Buchner to Fields <br />Drive <br />(e) Oakdale Street from Hooker Street to Boykin Avenue <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />
