aooK 7 PAu 447 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OE COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA <br />7 JULY °1970 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building at the <br />corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. on <br />Monday, July 7th, 1970, the same being the hour, date and place duly established for <br />the holding of such meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call <br />the following answered present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, <br />Gordon A. Wicker, and John E. Dotterer. The Chairman declared a quorum present <br />and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer <br />presided and the following business was transacted: <br />Mr. Ed Gunther of Cumnock appeared before the Board and presented a <br />petition requesting the hard surfacing of Secondary Road No. 1450 known as the Detour <br />Road in Cumnock. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the <br />following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above <br />described road which is now a part of the system of roads main- <br />tained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated <br />in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is <br />deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better <br />serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of <br />County Commissioners hereby approve and request that the State <br />Highway Commission make the following improvements in the above <br />described road: <br />Hard surface. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Chairman Dotterer reported the State Highway Commission had reported <br />they were unable to secure the signature of Mrs. Sara Jackson, a property owner, and <br />therefore could not complete the project on Pine and Ridge Streets in the Grape Vine- <br />yard section. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker stated he wouldilook into the matter. <br />A question was raised about the sign on the County parking lot next to <br />the Methodist Church. However when it was determined that the sign was on the <br />property of Wilkins Supply Company, no action was taken. <br />
