BOOK PAGE 462 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, August 3, 1970 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners Room of the County <br />Office Building on M.onday, August 3, 1970, at 10:00 o'clock a. m. , the same <br />being the time, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. <br />The Vice-Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following <br />answered present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman John E. Dotterer was absent. Vice-Chairman <br />Franklin D. Wicker presided and the following business was transacted: <br />The monthly bills as tabulated by the County Accountant were reviewed <br />and approved for payment, upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, <br />seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and adopted by the affirmative <br />vote of all present. <br />The drafts of the minutes of the meetings held on June 1, 8, 10, 15, 24 and <br />July 7, were approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />That Mrs. Pattie Mae McGilvary be promoted <br />to Step 2 in her present grade in the Register of Deeds office <br />and that the $204. 00 increase in payment be made retroactive <br />to July 1 st, and that the interfund transfer of $204. 00 from item <br />for equipment be transferred to personal services to cover the <br />increase, all within the appropriation for the Register of Deeds <br />office. <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a roll call <br />vote, it was adopted by a majority vote as follows: <br />Aye: Cooper, F. Wicker, White <br />Nay: G. Wicker <br />Absent: Dotterer <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded it was RESOLVED to promote <br />Woodrow McLean, the Cook at the Jail and Alton Williams, the Janitor, one <br />step in their grade from a present salary of $3, 444 to a total salary of $3, 600. 00 <br />per annum, in order to pay said workers a minimum of $1. 70 per hour. No <br />budget appropriation was necessary since each appropriation contained sufficient <br />funds to pay said salaries . <br />The roll call'vote on said Resolution was as follows: <br />Aye: Cooper, White, F.
